We carry out a range of tasks in our work, and we are totally reliant on the help of our amazing, dedicated volunteers and members. There are lots of ways you can get involved.
We run regular working bees and work days to complete important restoration jobs around Maketu. We reward your hard work with sausage sizzles or coffee and muffin breaks to show our appreciation! Not to mention good company, beautiful scenery and interesting wildlife!
Tasks for the working bees normally include planting native species, removing non native plants and collecting litter.
In order to enable people to assist with more specialist tasks we occasionally run training courses in areas such as chainsaw use, herbicide application, ATV/LUV driving and pest animal control. These courses are usually around two thirds funded by us, so we are able to keep the cost to you extremely low.
We also welcome helpers for our education program, both in the classroom and in the field. If you are interested then please contact our Education Officer Tania on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Feel free to let us know if you have any particular skills or qualifications you think might be of use, and please see our Volunteer page for more information on how to help.
